What does a comprehensive personal care routine look like?
Comprehensive body care always begins with cleansing – whether in the shower or the bath. Clean water removes dirt and impurities from the skin. One important factor to consider is the water temperature. Although many people enjoy a hot shower or bath, the water should not be excessively warm or hot, as high temperatures can damage the skin's natural protective barrier.
Excessive heat can disrupt the skin's protective lipid layer and natural microbiome while also slowing down the metabolism of skin cells. As a result, the skin may become dry, sensitive, and more vulnerable to external influences. This increases the risk of minor cracks, infections, and various skin conditions.
The ideal temperature for showering or bathing is approximately the same as your body temperature. A water temperature of around 36–37°C (97–99°F) is generally considered ideal. If you would like to stimulate circulation and support connective tissue, you may benefit from alternating between warm and cold water – a technique known as contrast showering.
There are various ways to practise contrast showering, for example by alternating the temperature every minute. Choose the method that feels most comfortable for you. However, the cold water should not be colder than 18°C (64°F). It is also recommended to begin by running the cold water over your feet before gradually moving upwards over the rest of your body.
Thorough cleaning
After rinsing away dirt, sweat, and other impurities with clean water, it is time to use the appropriate cleansing products. A gentle shower gel and shampoo thoroughly cleanse your body and hair. Apply the products evenly and gently massage them into your skin and hair.
Be sure to use enough water to create a rich lather, allowing the products to cleanse effectively and perform at their best. Afterwards, rinse them off thoroughly with clean, comfortably warm water.
The next step is drying your skin. Ideally, use a soft towel and gently pat your skin dry rather than rubbing it. Rubbing can irritate the skin and weaken its natural protective barrier.
The final step in your skincare routine

Finally, it is important to protect your skin from drying out. This can be achieved by applying moisturising creams and lotions. Depending on the formulation, these products penetrate the upper layers of the skin while also forming a protective barrier on its surface. In this way, they support the skin's natural defence system, help maintain its softness and elasticity, and protect it against dryness, cracks, and infections.
Skin with specific care needs may also benefit from specialised skincare products. For example, creams and ointments are available for blemish-prone skin, rashes, irritated skin, haemorrhoids, and other targeted concerns. These products complete your body care routine by providing your skin's natural protective barrier with lasting hydration, nourishment, and resilience.
Which products are suitable for comfortable personal care?

The ideal body care routine starts with the right cleansing products. At dline®, we offer a selection of bath products designed to meet different skincare needs. Our NOB® Nutrient Oil Bath is suitable for normal to dry skin. It helps maintain the skin's natural lipid and moisture balance by forming a fine, protective oil film on the skin.
For dry to very dry, heavily stressed, or sensitive skin, we recommend our ELB® Extra Lipid Bath. With a lipid content of 82%, including 61% plant-based oils, it provides exceptionally intensive replenishing care and helps restore the skin's natural protective barrier.
Hair care is just as important. Our NAS® Nutrient Anti-Dandruff Shampoo is specially formulated for irritated, itchy, and flaky scalps. It not only revitalises the hair and scalp but also contains caffeine to help support healthy hair growth.
For daily moisturising care, we recommend our BL® Basic Lotion. It is the ideal all-round moisturiser for skin without specific concerns. Suitable for normal to dry skin, it relieves tightness and itching, helps prevent moisture loss, and strengthens the skin's natural barrier function.
To complete your skincare routine, we also offer our fast-absorbing, hypoallergenic HL® Hydro Lotion Hand Cream, as well as our protective LPB® Lip Balm for soft and well-cared-for lips.
