Zinc cream/zinc ointment for effective skin protection

As the body's largest organ, the skin performs remarkable tasks every day. It protects against harmful environmental influences, regulates body temperature, and helps eliminate toxins through the skin—just to name a few of its functions. However, when the skin barrier is compromised, it becomes increasingly difficult for the skin to carry out these and many other important tasks. Zinc cream/zinc ointment supports the skin in regenerating and regaining its natural strength.

Read on to learn what makes zinc so valuable for skin health and when zinc-based creams and ointments can be particularly beneficial.

How does zinc cream or zinc ointment help to keep skin healthy?

Zinc is an essential trace element that the human body must obtain regularly. It is an important component of the skin and plays an active role in wound healing. A zinc deficiency often becomes noticeable through delayed healing processes, as well as dry and inflamed areas of the skin.

Zinc cream/zinc ointment also makes a valuable contribution to the treatment of blemished skin and acne. The trace element is capable of inhibiting enzymes that convert testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is involved in sebum production and can therefore promote the development of skin impurities.

Zinc creams and ointments have also proven to be valuable aids in the management of atopic dermatitis (eczema). Patients suffering from this skin condition often have lower concentrations of zinc in their red blood cells. This suggests that the trace element may influence the severity of atopic dermatitis.

Even beyond this connection, the use of zinc cream/zinc ointment for atopic dermatitis is beneficial. It helps soothe irritation and strengthens the skin barrier.

Zinc exhibits similar effects in the treatment of rosacea. Soothing and regenerating ingredients are essential for alleviating symptoms, and zinc fulfills these requirements effectively. In addition, its anti-inflammatory properties are particularly important in conditions such as rosacea.

These anti-inflammatory effects are also extremely helpful in cases of sunburn. Skin areas that are severely reddened and feel very warm or even hot require special care. Zinc helps calm UV-induced irritation and promotes the formation of new, healthy skin cells.

What makes dline®’s Zinc Cream (ZCR-ZincCream®) so special?

Our ZCR® ZincCream is a three-phase system consisting of lipids, water, and solid particles (zinc). This special formulation creates an especially strong protective film. It is particularly suitable for use on heavily stressed areas of skin and helps soothe irritated regions. The ointment restores suppleness to mildly dry skin and leaves the surface soft and smooth. Even already irritated or macerated skin can be optimally protected and cared for with ZCR® ZincCream as part of a treatment process.

In addition to zinc oxide, our ZCR® ZincCream contains the following ingredients, among others:

  • Aloe vera

  • Bisabolol

  • Glycerin

  • Jojoba oil

  • Magnesium sulfate

  • Panthenol

  • Poly

  • Urea

  • Vitamins A + E

  • Zinc

A look at some of the key ingredients in ZCR® ZincCream

Aloe Vera has become an indispensable ingredient in modern skincare. The gel contained within the plant’s thick leaves is widely recognized for its ability to support wound healing. Its active compounds stimulate the growth of new skin cells, helping wounds close more quickly and promoting the skin’s natural regeneration process.

Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate

Skin-friendly: This emulsifier is considered mild and gentle on the skin, making it particularly suitable for sensitive skin types. It helps soothe the skin and minimize irritation.

Moisturizing: Its composition helps retain moisture within the skin, which is especially beneficial for dry skin.

Non-comedogenic: Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate does not clog pores, making it suitable for oily and acne-prone skin.

Naturally derived: Although synthetically manufactured, it is based on natural raw materials such as glycerin and fatty acids, making it a commonly recognized “green” skincare ingredient.

Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate

Emulsifier: Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate primarily functions as an emulsifier. It helps blend water and oil in cosmetic formulations, creating stable emulsions that are essential for the consistency and effectiveness of creams, lotions, and other skincare products.

Moisturizing: Due to its glycerin component, it provides moisturizing benefits by helping the skin retain hydration and supporting the skin barrier.

Skin-softening: Its ricinoleic acid derivatives contribute to smoother, softer skin and help improve the feel of dry or rough areas.

Mild and skin-friendly: This emulsifier is considered very gentle and is generally well tolerated, making it ideal for sensitive skin.

Non-comedogenic: Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate is unlikely to clog pores, making it suitable for oily and acne-prone skin.

Naturally derived: While synthetically produced, it is based on natural ingredients such as glycerin and castor oil, making it a preferred choice in many “green” cosmetic formulations.

Areas of application:

  • Moisturizing creams
  • Sunscreen products
  • Lip care products
  • Foundations and other makeup products
  • Baby care products

In summary, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate is a versatile, skin-friendly emulsifier that is particularly suitable for sensitive and dry skin. It offers moisturizing and skin-conditioning benefits while improving the stability and texture of cosmetic formulations.

Urea is a natural component of the skin and is primarily found in its upper layers. It plays an important role in binding moisture, helping to keep the skin hydrated, soft, and supple.

A deficiency of magnesium can reduce the skin’s elasticity and impair its ability to retain moisture. For this reason, magnesium is an important component of our ZCR® ZincCream, helping to support healthy, resilient skin.

Panthenol is well known for its exceptional wound-healing properties. It promotes cell division and supports regenerative metabolic processes within the skin, helping to accelerate repair and maintain healthy skin function.

How to use it correctly

You can purchase ZCR® ZincCream through our online shop. Apply it daily as needed, and if necessary, several times a day. Gently massage the cream into the skin using circular motions and light pressure.

For extremely dry skin, combining the cream with white petroleum jelly (Vaseline) can be particularly beneficial.

To do so, mix three to five parts ZCR® ZincCream with one part white petroleum jelly. Whether applied on its own or in combination with petroleum jelly, ZCR® ZincCream helps protect the skin from maceration while caring for dry and sensitive areas.

For dry or itchy skin, we recommend mixing our CC® CoolingCream with ZCR® ZincCream in a ratio of 8:2 (8 parts CC® CoolingCream and 2 parts ZCR® ZincCream).

For facial application, use the CC® CoolingCream without menthol and mix it with ZCR® ZincCream in the same 8:2 ratio. This combination helps soothe, moisturize, and support sensitive facial skin.
